Corazones de Car Credit Monthly Charity Winner for April 2021

For the last 25 years, Credit Car Tampa, an acclaimed used car dealership in the Tampa Bay area, has been providing its customers with used vehicles that are in excellent condition and with top-notch customer service to boot. But at Credit Car Tampa, selling great vehicles is not our only passion. Indeed, we love to get involved in the community and give back in any way we can. That’s why, every month, we award the “Corazones de Car Credit” prize to a Tampa Bay area charity or individual to encourage their hard work in supporting the Hispanic community.

The winner of the ‘’Corazones de Car Credit’’ award this month is Adelante Club.

The Adelante Club, part of the Mulberry High School, is an organization dedicated to promoting service, leadership, and scholarship in the migrant farmworker community in Mulberry, Florida.

This inclusive club is committed to helping migrant children and seasonal farmworkers learn critical skills so that they are better equipped to succeed in their post-secondary education and can compete for better future opportunities. Through service projects, the students learn helpful soft skills, such as public speaking, networking, and how to be financially responsible. Everything they learn is then shared and spread through the broader community.

The club’s goal is to empower the farmworker community and encourage the development of strong leadership qualities among members through service initiatives, which will ultimately allow them to improve their quality of life.

The role of the Adelante Club in supporting the Hispanic community is paramount. Indeed, members have worked hard over the last few years planning, organizing, and facilitating various projects to help Hispanic families. Some of these fantastic initiatives include:

  • Organizing literacy projects in migrant camps with children.
  • Mentoring younger students to help them succeed at school.
  • Organizing trips to theaters, museums, and college campuses for migrant students.
  • Creating ‘’parent nights’’ in Spanish around college options, technical training, and nutrition.
  • Distributing toys at Christmas and food at Thanksgiving.
  • Partnering up with local agencies to get out information, food, and other needed items to up to 250 families in our community.

And of course, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the amazing Adelande Club’s members felt the need to step up and help as much as they could. As a result, over the last twelve months, the group has been distributing thousands of boxes of food, hundreds of masks, and other items to cater to the community’s essential needs. What’s even more impressive about this proactive and caring club is that most of the students who help out the community also work in part-time jobs to help their own families. Yet, they always take the time to give a hand, often making serving others a priority.

Some other incredible achievements include assisting Called To Serve Farmworkers, Inc, One More Child, RCMA, the United Way, and Freedom Tour in providing much-needed supplies to families during the pandemic. At the height of the crisis, Adelande Club has been serving 250 families a week. At the moment, the organization regularly provides essential supplies to between 150 and 250 families in need.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Adelande Club was awarded the precious prize due to the resilient and hardworking individuals that make up this fantastic group. Indeed, these deserving students have really stepped up and gone above and beyond to serve their community during these challenging times. And not only are they helping families with their essential needs, but they also represent role models for younger students within the farmworker community.

‘’We will use this money to directly provide resources for this amazing group of young people to prepare for what is next in their futures. The money will provide materials and opportunities for college visits and hands-on experiences that they would not otherwise have the ability to do’’, says Gian Monacelli, Assistant Principal Mulberry High School.
